Shinken is an open source Nagios® like tool, redesigned and rewritten from scratch. Its main goal is to meet today’s system monitoring requirements while still allowing compatibility to Nagios®

Just stop your Nagios® daemon, start the Shinken daemons, and you’re done!

How is this possible?

Shinken is a totally redesigned and rewritten Nagios®, but keeps full compatibility with it’s ancestor. This way, you can reuse your configuration, plugins and even webinterface.

You can monitor nearly anything in your IT, even end user apps! Everything is done using Agents, Plugins (there are a lot of them!) and native Shinken poller modules. If you need to check something really specific in your environnement, you can create a new plugin just by writing a few lines of script!

Shinken is shipped as a program with a selection of plugins and is compatible out of the box with visualization front-ends like Thruk, Ninja, NagVis!

For new monitoring installations, you can use the pre-built templates and discovery feature that allows you to quickly get all your servers, routers and switches monitored !
