Administrators need a means to view status data and interact with the system.
Shinken typically interfaces with the systems using the Livestatus API. There are open-source and commercial web frontends available to suit your needs. Shinken ships with its own WebUI but is not mandatory. The Nagios CGI web interface is deprecated and should be replaced with one of the fast and modern UIs based on the Livestatus API listed below.
The choice of an interface starts with the method of data exchange. Those based on Livestatus and those based on an SQL backend.
Livestatus based interfaces
SQL Backend database interfaces
Pickle based data export
Direct memory access
The most scalable and responsive interface is based on Livestatus. For users just starting out with small to medium installations, Thruk, Multiste or Shinken's WebUI are good choices. For small to medium sized corporate deployments that need all the bells and whistles, Centreon or Ninja are good choices. For maximum scalability and a solid feature set Multisite is recommended, followed Thruk. Try them out and see which one fits best, this is especially easy with the Livestatus based interfaces and Shinken WebUI.
Nagvis, PNP and Graphite are all complimentary packages based on your requirements.
Follow the links to the installation and integration instructions for each UI listed below to learn how to integrate them with Shinken.
